"I hope every school or university treats women's sports like South Carolina," she said. Staley, who is the second-highest-paid coach in women's college basketball, has a salary of $3.1 million per season, and earned a reported $680,000 more in bonuses following South Carolina's championship. Nike’s new Olympic outfit designs for the US women and men were revealed last week, and the track and field uniforms have rightly been met with intense criticism. Just look at what Caitlin Clark, Dawn Staley and this year’s women collegiate basketball players did for the NCAA. For the uninitiated, prior to the settlement the women were earning as little as 40% of what the men were paid, despite winning four World Cup championships. A woman, Simone Biles, is the most decorated gymnast of all time, winning an astounding 37 World and Olympic medals… and she’s not done competing. Instead, while male athletes are simply referred to as “athletes,” we are “women athletes” who must shave and trim, wax and pluck our way into the hearts and minds of… men.

The call for name, image and likeness legislation came Tuesday in a South Carolina House education committee hearing. Compared to last year's WNBA Finals, fans were 30% more likely to engage online with a brand they saw advertised than they were in 2022, EDO data show. Michelob Ultra ran the most effective ad series during the Finals, tracking 211% above the average Finals engagement rate over its six ads, per EDO. Both the WNBA Finals and playoffs metrics sit well above the average primetime broadcast and cable effectiveness for advertisers, EDO shows. Kim Mulkey, the coach of defending national champion LSU, has agreed to a 10-year contract worth about $32 million that will set a new mark for the richest coaching contract in women's college basketball, according to a person with knowledge of the deal. The deal also still needs approval from the LSU Board of Supervisors, who are scheduled to vote on it Friday. The Hall of Fame coach has been at LSU for two seasons, during which she has taken a program that missed the NCAA Tournament three seasons ago and elevated it to the pinnacle of its sport. It was her fourth national title as a head coach — the first three coming at Baylor, where she coached from 2000 to 2021. Her record at LSU in two seasons combined is 50-8, with NCAA Tournament appearances both years.

Friday night, in the hotly anticipated Women’s Final Four, millions worldwide will be tuning in to watch the formidable face-offs of South Carolina vs. Iowa, and LSU vs. Virginia Tech.
